The Cutest Flower Girl Ever

Aubrey was in her first wedding this weekend. I was a bit apprehensive when our good friends asked if she would be their flower girl; she has a tendency to not do anything anyone wants her to do. I was worried she would refuse, or cry, or run wild, so I told them that if they didn't have too high of expectations that of course Aubrey could be in their wedding.

We have been talking to her a lot for the last several weeks about how she would get to walk down the isle with Austin's best friend (who she adores), who was the ring bearer, and how she would get to throw flowers all over the floor. Rehearsal went well, she walked with her empty basket down the isle, pretending to throw petals. She stood on her tape mark all of 3 seconds next to the bride and bride's maids, and then was up and down the steps where the ceremony was to take place, back and forth to mommy and to her mark. I kept trying to tell her that she would have to stand on her mark the next day and try to be still. So....

The time came for us to go to the church and get ready for the wedding. She had just woken up from her nap and was cranky. I showed her the 'princess dress' that she got to wear, she refused to put it on. I showed her the shoes she got to wear, she refused to put them on. I tried to put her hair up with ribbons, she refused to stand still. I bribed her with ice cream. We got the dress and shoes on, and hair up. She looked beautiful. I showed her how to twirl around in her dress to make it poof out. She thought that was fun. The shoes hurt her feet, and were hard to keep on, but again, I bribed her with ice cream, and told her she could take them off as soon as the wedding was done. Then we put the flower petals in her basket and started to practice throwing them on the ground. After we practiced, we would pick them up and throw them again. She did super.

She got in line with the little ring bearer, and they started down the isle. She got distracted by people, and he seemed to be in a race, so he made it down to the front far before she did. Right before she got to the front, she remembered she had flowers to throw, so took two big handfuls and dropped them on the ground. Then came the bride and the wedding started. Aubrey did really well standing on her mark...for about 3 seconds. Then she remembered the flowers she had just thrown, got off the step and put all of the petals back in her basket, got back on the step and threw them all out again. And then gathered them all back up, to throw them all back out again. She was having trouble with her shoes, so had to sit down to adjust those, but eventually decided to just take them off and brought them to me. She then twirled in her pretty dress for everyone, and continued to throw/gather her flower petals. Overall she did great, and was the hit of the wedding. She definitely was the very cutest flower girl ever. And she enjoyed her ice cream.

Waiting to go down the isle

Picking up the petals she dropped on the way down.

Losing the shoes...

Distracted from her flower petals by the actual wedding ceremony...

My little flower girl.

Way Back Wednesday #1

I thought I would add a weekly themed post to my blog with the hope that if I don't have anything exciting to post about, I will still put something up on a regular basis. Because as you know, I haven't been so regular about it. I think I have writer's block. It isn't that my kids aren't doing interesting/funny/adorable stuff to tell you about, they do daily. But by the time I sit down to tell you about it I have already forgotten, or am too tired, or a dozen other excuses. So the idea is to put up pictures of the kids from when they were littler to share since I wasn't blogging at that time. Hope you enjoy...

Austin at 5 months. I love this picture. He just looks ornery... and wet. Drool baby.

Baseball, What Else?

I know, I know, it has been almost a month since my last post...again. Whew time flies when you are busy! We are full swing into summer, and plan on spending lots of time swimming, playing ball, and hanging out with friends. I am sure the house will get neglected again this summer, but if I spend as much time outside of it as possible, maybe I won't notice!

I just wanted to share a few clips from Austin's last T-Ball game (and brag a little bit). He has had some very exciting games this year, but the last two have been awesome. In his last game, Austin had 2 unassisted double plays, caught three line drives and made a total of six outs by himself, as well as fielded the ball and made a throw to 1st for another out. His hitting was on fire as well. We won 20-5.

The game before that one was a nail biter. We were playing a team that we had beaten before, so I think we felt pretty confident going into it. The first two innings were a disaster! We had multiple base running errors, strike outs and outs for throwing the bat with kids who have never had that problem before. We started the 3rd inning, and last as the hour time limit was approaching, up 16-14. We all knew that the game would be over as soon as the other team got to 17. First batter up hit one right to Austin who fielded it and threw it to our 1st baseman cleanly. One out. Second batter came up, ground ball to Austin who fielded it and threw it to first, but our 1st baseman missed it, so the batter ended up rounding the bases for a homerun. The score is now 16-15, with one out. Third batter up, line drive to Austin, who snatches it for out number 2. Crowd goes crazy. Fourth batter up, ground ball to Austin, who fielded it and threw to first baseman, who again missed it, but scrambled for it and touched first base a second before the batter. Out number three and we won the game. This mom was horse by the time the game was over. You would have thought we won the world series. It was so exciting. I just love to watch my son play ball!!!

Line drive to Austin, OUT!

Line drive to Austin, OUT, then tags the runner for OUT number 2.
