The Next Food Network Star

Austin made us all breakfast the other morning. He loves to cook with his daddy, which is nice since I spend as much time as I can trying to avoid the kitchen. They made omelets (and grits of course, we are in the south you know).

Sidebar: I had never had grits before moving down here, even though it has always been one of Brian's favorite breakfast items. I don't think you can get them in Wyoming. I kind of like them. I also had not ever had fried okra, which I must say is one of my favorite vegetables now. It does count as a vegetable right? I still have yet to try waffles and fried chicken (together), but hear it is pretty good soul food.

Anyway, Brian made the first one while Austin took notes, and then Austin made the rest for everyone with only a little guidance from daddy. I must say, it was the very best cheese omelet I have ever tasted. I am not biased at all. Not even a little bit. What a proud little man we had.

Way Back Wednesday #22

Austin's first day of school, August 2007. He was starting Pre-K. Can't believe how fast the last 3 years have gone, and how much he has grown. So proud of my little man!

Way Way Back Wednesday

Here is my adorable husband at about 18 mos old-ish. What a handsome little guy.

And here is Aubrey at around the same age. I think Aubrey kind of looks like her daddy a little bit. I am sure she gets her orneriness from him. Can't be from me.

Happy New Year

It seems like every time I post lately I am apologizing for being away for so long! My plan for the new year is to post more often, but then that was my plan last year and that didn't always work out did it? I was going to do a post all about my New Year's Resolutions, but that would just be a repeat of years past with a few added ones, so I won't bore you with those. Note to self: although people say that writing down your goals and sharing them with others is a good way to be held accountable to them, it has done nothing in helping me achieve mine. Sigh.

We have been busy getting back in our routine after Christmas. My house is still a wreck, and the Christmas decorations may still be up although I have quit letting the kids turn the tree on for fear the neighbors may see. Some day soon I hope to have it all put away for another year. I always feel a big let down after Christmas; there is so much anticipation and excitement leading up to the holiday and then it is over before I know it. The weeks are starting to blur again, and we are now looking forward to Spring Break and another week off. We have had some beautiful days mixed in with some very frigid ones, and even had some snow. The kids were excited and spent a few minutes trying to catch snowflakes on their tongues until they got too cold. They never would survive in Wyoming. And anymore, I am pretty sure I wouldn't either. I have been away too long...
