Thy Medieval Fair

I have always wanted to go to a Renaissance Fair. They have one every year here, and I always thought the kids would enjoy it, but we have failed to make it every year. Until today...
I think we are going to make it an annual event. And the best part? Free. Well, other than the feasting.

We saw...
Jousting. This guy asked Aubrey if he could fight for her honour. She told him no. He lost.
Aubrey and Daddy and Austin watching the duel.
The Plague Doctor (apparently doctors in the time of the plague wore outfits like this to protect themselves, with the belief that the plague was spread by birds. So this get up would "lure" the plague out of the victims by the bird man.BlacksmithsAerial performers (Aubrey and Austin really liked watching her. So did Daddy).

We ate...

Yummy Fair Food

We Rode...
A HUGE horse. There were camels and elephants and llamas to choose from to ride, but Aubrey picked the horses. And almost backed out. But she did great!
Austin got to try his hand at his own acrobatic skills. He wasn't quite prepared for how high he was going to go, and I could tell he was scared. We tried to get him to do the flips he was excited to try before he got up there, but I think he was just doing good to hang on. He later said he threw up a little bit in his mouth. Thankfully, this was before the yummy fair food...

Go Sparkles!

Tonight was Aubrey's first T-ball game. She was so scared that she cried before the game, but quickly got over it and took the field. She batted twice, got out at first both times, but had the first RBI of the season, hitting in her little friend Kaila (we only got two runs total, and lost 15-2, but who's counting?).

She played first base (like her big brother used to), and got at least 4 outs with the assistance of our pitcher. She did great. To say I am a proud momma is an understatement. And her big brother watched her game like he promised her he would...mostly. Considering he had most of his Bulldog team there too, I am suprised he saw any of it.

Down and Ready...

Here is one of her spectacular plays at first (I am not at all biased am I?)

Way Back Wednesday #39

So I know it has been awhile since a Way Back Wednesday post...

I was going through past pictures and came across this video of Aubrey and Austin doing somersaults in May 2009. They were so darn adorable.

Fancy Aubrey

The kids got to dress up last week as their favorite story book character. Aubrey was ecstatic (that is a fancy word for excited) to dress up as her favorite character Fancy Nancy. And she looked very elegant (which is a fancy word for fancy) in her boa and tierra. We have to read Fancy Nancy books repeatedly (that is a fancy word for over and over), because Aubrey loves all of the fancy new words she learns. If you haven't read a Fancy Nancy book, I highly recommend them (that means I think you should read them). They are a lot of fun.

Spring Training

It is finally here. My girl is now an official baseball player! She had her first T-Ball practice last Sunday, and loved it. Her all girls team is named The Sparkles. Unfortunately, because Brian and I were helping with practice, we were not a part of the naming of the team with the other parents. They picked three names for the girls to vote on, including The Peaches, The Sparkles and The Little Divas. It was almost unanimous among the girls to have The Sparkles. Only one little girl raised her little hand for The Little Divas, and can you guess which little diva that was? Yep, it was my little diva whose lone hand was raised high for Little Divas. I think she is okay with the Sparkles though. I, however, was hoping for something a little less girly. But I guess I can live with it. I will post pictures of her in her uniform as soon as it comes in, and of course will post lots of pictures of her playing this season. I. CAN'T. WAIT!

Ready for practice. Had to have the eye black, just like big brother.

In more baseball news, Austin may have his first tournament this weekend. It is raining today and is supposed to keep raining this weekend, so it is iffy. I am hoping he will get to play, if it isn't too cold. He is finished with Basketball. We lost our last game, (along with all the others but two), but Austin made the final shot of the season. I think he liked Basketball. I am hoping he will want to play again next winter. I sure like it better than soccer, although I yell just as loudly no matter what sport he is playing.
