We went to the park today to try and get some outside time between spring storms (I just love Spring in Oklahoma). Austin and daddy played catch while Aubrey hit the ball to me. After she got tired and wanted to sit and play with the grass, I joined in with the boys to play a rousing game of 'catch the fly balls'. I was doing really well until I lost a ball in the sun and took a fly ball to the mouth. After checking for all of my teeth and wiping the tears away, I felt an enormous fat lip coming on. Thankfully we were playing with a T-Ball and not a baseball, I might actually have lost a tooth, but either way I still look and feel a little like I was beat up. So that ended the baseball for the day.
Austin throwing to daddy. What form!
Aubrey hitting a home-run!
So we decided to take my fat lip and the kids to the zoo for a little while to have a picnic and see some animals. After an hour or two the sky started getting dark and they were making announcements that 'severe weather' was headed our way. We quickly made our way to the car and headed towards home. We didn't get very far when heavy rain started with hail on the way, so Brian pulled over to find something to get under. No sooner had we pulled under a covered driveway, the hail started. And I literally mean within 2 seconds of us getting under there. So we watched the hail pummel cars on the highway for about 20 minutes, and headed home after it let up. All the way home we saw cars with their back windows/windshields busted out, and huge dents in them. Thank goodness we found something to get under when we did! And thank goodness that the hail wasn't too bad at home, and no damage was done to our house.
Brian got out to watch the hail and take pictures. Me and the kids stayed safely in the car! Aubrey actually slept through the whole thing, she passed out about the time we started the car to come home.
The rain and the hail. Thankfully these storms usually don't last very long!
The covered driveway we found. Look at all of the hail on the ground!
